Travel has been a bit harder recently but that doesn't mean we haven't been able to try new things, learn new skills, or in short.. explore.

This case takes you on a journey through an exciting range of styles which are from the path less travelled.

Orange wines (white wines made like a red wine) can sometimes seem like a new, modern trend in wine. However, their history goes back much further than modern white wine styles. Matic's Postopoma embodies this mix of new and old perfectly. 'Postopoma' means "gradually progressive" in Slovenian which is exactly what this wine is. It is the result of taking a modern approach while respecting traditional methods. The wine is a field blend of mostly Kerner and Riesling, it has been macerated on skins for several weeks to develop an exciting colour, texture, and flavour profile.

At Pip our Austrian wines showcase the potential of the countries indigenous grapes to become international superstars. The Roter Veltliner (no relation of Gruner Veltliner) is a chameleon among wines and Arnold Holzer's is widely renowned as one of the best. The taste is unique through its variety of fruits, its essence-rich, full acidic finish, and honeyed undertones that add to the complexity.

Grignolino may not be Piemonte's most well known vinous export (that crown must go to Nebbiolo and its pinnacle in Barolo), but this rare grape is yet another example of how this region can produce truly individual wines. It has a slightly pale ruby colour, intensely fruity aromas with floral notes. Enveloping and fresh with noticeable tannins it takes you off in many different places and is an absolutely fascinating as well as absolutely delicious, unique red wine.

The Singular  is a truly unique organic vinho verde. It is a blend conceptualised by winemaker Fernando Moura, which combines wines from the various vineyards and grape varieties of Quinta de Santa Teresa, including the oldest vines, expressing in a harmonious way the “singularity” of each vintage. The blend of Arinto, Avesso, Malvasía, and Alvarinho give this wine a captivating depth and complexity.

English sparkling wine is winning near countless awards and rave reviews. However, the team behind Sov'ran believe that with the correct grape selection for our temperate, marginal climate English still wine can reach the same levels. And if their  Sov'ran Ortega is anything to go by they seem to be correct. The floral notes jump out of the glass, with an array of tropical flavours and ripe citrus notes.

The Gentleman & His Small Brother is named after two differently behaving barrels of Cinsault: one that behaved like a gentleman throughout and another that, well, didn't! (It mischievously splurged all over Andrew at one point in the fermentation). The Cinsault comes from bushvines grown in clay & schist soils on the banks of the Berg River. Semi-carbonic maceration on skins for 5 days, pressed, naturally fermented and matured in those old oak barrels for 7 months. It's a delightful, lighter red wine with an enticingly vibrant red hue, juicy red berries jumping at you from all angles. As thirst-quenching as it gets for a red wine. Bung it in the fridge for a bit if you fancy too.
