Klipkers, the rare native Candelwood tree that settles under the granite rocks in the wine country's mountain ranges, is the inspiration for the wine. Wherever you run into him you are surrounded by Proteas while the smell of fynbos fills your nostrils.
This is from the only Syrah vineyard in the cool, coastal Walker Bay area, somewhere more often associated with Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Blended with a small portion of Cinsaut from Paarl, this meaty red has aromas of fynbos, red currant and raspberry. The palate shows fresh red fruit, plum, white pepper and spice, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel.
