Alexandre Gomez comes from a long line of farmers in the Baião area of the Minho in northern Portugal, famously the home of Vinho Verde. In 1991, Alexandre began planting a new vineyard of just 5 hectares dedicated to the region's native varieties, like the Alvarinho (known as Albariño over the border in Spain), Avessa and Arinto you find in this organic white blend. The 2018 vintage was hot and dry with much higher than average temperatures in August and September.
Avesso delivers full-bodied aromatic wines and is planted primarily here in the Baião region. These bold flavours marry so well with the emblematic Alvarinho grape and vibrant Arinto. It's a terrific wine, really over-delivering on every level!
