"Complex, delicious and deeply flavoured with baked citrus, honey and apricot. Good balance and lovely phenolic grip on the finish."
Rod Smith MW, Decanter, 3rd March 2020

Last year, a Decanter expert panel of Elizabeth Gabay MW, Joanna Simon and Rod Smith MW assessed nearly two hundred of the leading Provençal rosés and selected just one wine in the "Outstanding" category.

With a 98-point rating, this was it.

Clos Cibonne's Cuvée Marius is a limited-release Côtes de Provence rosé that pays homage to the estate's winemaker in the 1920s and resurrects the old 'Château Cibon' label. Young winemaker Olivier Deforges uses only estate-grown fruit from organic, 60+ year old vines just 800 metres from the Mediterranean Sea, deploying their typical blend of 90% Tibouren and 10% Grenache.

Grapes are pressed directly to large, 2,600-litre French oak barrels, where the wine remains for two years. After 6 and 12 months, only the best components are reserved to make Cuvée Marius.

The colour of onion skins with copper and amber tones. The nose is striking, with intense orange peel, pear and fresh almonds. Flavours are similarly intense, with spice, orange and red fruits and a sumptuous buttery texture.

It is an extraordinary rosé. The world's greatest? You be the judge, but many think so.

This is also the final remaining shipment of the now legendary debut 2017 vintage, with is sold out at the winery. Just 24 bottles and 3 magnums available.
