The Frey winery has been located in the heart of the village of Ober-Flörsheim for four generations. This is the highest settlement in the south-west of Rheinhessen, Germany's most productive wine region.
Philipp and Christopher Frey (pictured) are the younger generation and they have taken charge alongside their father Stefan, tending 23 hectares of organic vines.
Their Pinot Blanc (known in German as Weissburgunder) is made from grapes that are picked by hand in their own vineyards and undergoing careful selection. It is an instantly loveable wine and shows it is worth exploring German whites beyond Riesling! Clear notes of apricot and melon, a creamy texture with soft, rounded, smoky finish. Plenty of depth to it, this is a white wine with the utmost versatility and delivering a huge amount of pleasure.
