Bruno Lafon grew up in Burgundy, where his family own and run the prestigious Domaine des Comtes Lafon which his brother now runs, and moved to South of France more than 20 years ago. He created Nos Vins du Sud because he was convinced of the exceptional potential of Languedoc-Roussillon wines. As a Burgundian he was dreaming of producing Pinot Noir to the region, and found an ideal site in Limoux.
The grapes come from a single vineyard located at Gaja et Villedieu between 250-300m in altitude, averaging 15-25 years. The site benefits from the region’s Atlantic influences and it’s limestone soils with a cooler north facing aspect.
The wine has bright floral notes including violet and flowering wild thyme on the nose. Raspberry liquorish entices further along with wild strawberry, dark cherries, tobacco & spice. The palate is juicy but balanced with maturation in 25% Burgundy barrels ranging between 3-5 years in age that help round out the palate.
